If you're choosing between a cordless and a petrol chainsaw, the honest answer is: it depends on what you're actually cutting, not which one sounds more powerful on paper.
Cordless (battery) chainsaws
Lighter, quieter, no fuel mixing, and ready to go with the pull of a trigger — our 16-inch Brushless Lithium-ion Chainsaw suits occasional pruning, firewood-sized branches, and general garden clean-up. Brushless motors run cooler and last longer than older brushed designs. The trade-off is runtime — sized for a task measured in minutes, not hours.
Petrol chainsaws
More power, longer continuous runtime (just carry spare fuel), and generally the better choice for felling trees, cutting thick hardwood, or working somewhere without easy access to charge a battery. Our 52cc Gas Chainsaw is built for that heavier, sustained workload — at the cost of more weight, more noise, and basic engine maintenance.
The short version
- Garden tidy-ups, small branches, occasional use → cordless.
- Felling, firewood cutting, regular heavy use → petrol.
Either way, proper safety gear (gloves, eye protection, sturdy footwear) isn't optional — a chainsaw doesn't care how experienced you are.
